Last night I turned in my best result for racing this year, 6th at the Seward Thursday Night Crit. It wasn’t easy we started with dry conditions going clockwise around the course. The fast direction. Then, it started to rain.

The rain made for slick roads and a tricky decent at 30+MPH. Through one turn I could feel my front wheel wanting to slide and backed off just a little bit the next time through. I really didn’t want to go sliding across the tarmac, there’s still a lot of things I want to do this summer.

Making things more fun was loosing most of my braking power the last two laps. There was a lot of grime caked on from the previous race and the wet was just making it harder for the pads to get any grip. Lesson, clean your rims often.

In the end I got into a good position for the final up hill sprint and just missed 5th place by a wheel. It was a good hard race and now I really want to try and win it once this year.
